What really strikes me about Bastion is that, at it’s heart, it is a game about forgiveness. Not just about forgiving other people, but forgiving yourself. Moving on from terrible things, from things you don’t think it’s possible to move on from. I think Evacuation is one of the most beautifully bittersweet yet hopeful endings I’ve seen. Nothing is perfect, nothing is healed, but it’s making the choice to try to heal, to try to forgive, that matters.
